Robert Norton has more than 10 years of experience helping clients protect and maximize their intellectual property rights. He focuses his practice on patent prosecutions, licensing, opinion drafting, and litigation. He has extensive experience obtaining patent and trademark registrations and negotiating and drafting various licensing agreements and validity and non-infringement opinions.
Robert handled patent infringement litigation involving a variety of industries, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, electronics and appliance manufacturing, printing and telecommunications, and internet technology. Specific technologies he worked with include VoIP switch, DRAM computer chips, video game packaging, anti-epilepsy drug, food flavoring, plastic resin, and bag, sewing machine, metal case, and window shades.
In addition, he served as primary U.S. counsel to many Japanese corporations with various legal matters outside of intellectual property. He represented Japanese corporations in civil litigations over various contract disputes, land use, and investments. He also assisted Japanese clients with drafting and negotiating sales and distribution agreements; forming and dissolving corporations; buying, selling, and developing real estate; business combinations; employment law; immigration; government investigations; and in international disputes.
