K&L Gates Honored with Multiple Qatar Business Law Forum Awards
Doha - Global law firm K&L Gates LLP received two awards during the recent 2019 Qatar Business Law Forum & Awards, retaining the “Property and Construction Firm of the Year” title for a second consecutive year as well as earning a new recognition for “Alternative Dispute Resolution Firm of the Year.” The annual forum and awards ceremony recognizes exceptional achievement within Qatar’s legal community and are judged by a panel of nearly 30 industry leaders, academic practitioners, and government officials. Construction and disputes partner Matthew Walker collected the awards on behalf of the firm.
“We are delighted to have been recognized again this year as one of the leading law firms in Doha,” said Doha partner Amjad Hussain. “We provide a seamless full service offering to our clients in conjunction with our colleagues globally. Both our property and construction and dispute resolution teams continue to advise on a vast range of leading projects within the State and these awards do well to showcase our hard work.”
In addition to the awards ceremony, the law conference brought together over 200 private practice lawyers and in-house counsel, along with select practitioners and academic thought leaders, to discuss key legal trends in the Qatari and global legal market. K&L Gates partners Jonathan Sutcliffe and Wojciech Sadowski provided seminars on litigation and arbitration funding and investor-state disputes, respectively.
Managing Partner, Europe and the Middle East, Tony Griffiths stated: “The state of Qatar is a crucial market for K&L Gates, not just as a vital part of our Middle East practice but given Qatar’s significant global investment footprint for our entire firm. I am delighted to see our contribution to Doha’s legal market being recognized for a second consecutive year.”
The QBLF awards follow a recent Islamic Finance News award to K&L Gates for Private Equity Deal of the Year for the firm’s work leading a regional investment bank in financing proceedings for a convertible Murabahah facility and several honorable mentions in the Arbitration, Insolvency, and Restructuring category.
