K&L Gates Continues Health Care Practice Growth with Washington, D.C., Partner Addition
Washington, D.C. - The Washington, D.C., office of global law firm K&L Gates LLP has added Andrew D. Ruskin as a partner in the health care practice. He joins the firm from Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP.
Ruskin concentrates his practice on advising hospitals, health systems, and pharmaceutical and medical device companies on a variety of Medicare and Medicaid regulatory, litigation, and transactional matters. During a career spanning more than two decades, he has counseled clients on strategic issues surrounding health care coverage, reimbursement, and compliance, such as provider-based status; Graduate Medical Education reimbursement; 340B drug pricing and price reporting; and Medicare billing compliance. He also has experience in Medicare litigation in regards to violations of Administrative Procedure Act rights and defends companies in investigations before the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (HHS-OIG).
“Andy is a trusted counselor, who helps clients with strategic decisions impacting their business on Medicare and Medicaid regulatory issues and actions, litigation, and transactions,” said J. Barclay Collins, managing partner of K&L Gates’ Washington, D.C., office. “We are delighted that’s he joining the firm and our Washington, D.C., office.”
Ruskin’s arrival follows the additions of health care partners Stephen Bittinger in the firm’s Charleston and Washington, D.C., offices in April and Myla Reizen in K&L Gates’ Miami office this February. K&L Gates also welcomed nearly 20 other new partners and of counsel during the first half of 2020, including in the firm’s Seattle, New York, San Francisco, Miami, Melbourne, Paris, Charlotte, Chicago, and Washington, D.C., offices across practices such as corporate, tax, environment, land and natural resources, asset management and investment funds, IP litigation, government contracts, and investigations, enforcement and white collar.
Mary Beth F. Johnston, managing partner of K&L Gates’ Research Triangle Park office and a leader of the firm’s health care practice, commented: “We are extremely pleased that someone of Andy’s talent has chosen to join our health care and FDA practice. His depth of knowledge and extraordinary skill set will greatly add to our group and to our ability to serve our clients, particularly during this transformational time in health care due to COVID-19.”
