K&L Gates Advises AI Health Startup Abridge on $15 Million Fundraising and Mobile App Global Launch
Pittsburgh - Global law firm K&L Gates LLP has advised Pittsburgh-based health care artificial intelligence startup company Abridge on a $15 million fundraising and the global launch of the company’s mobile app, which, combined with AI software, will securely transcribe medical visits at a consumer’s choosing. This latest fundraising round for the company supports the global launch campaign and included investors such as Union Square Ventures, Pillar, Bessemer Partners, KDT Ventures, and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
With more than 50,000 users, Abridge aims to bridge the gap between patients and doctors, helping them recall key details of their health care strategies, including doctor conversations, diagnoses, procedures, and medications.
The K&L Gates team that advised Abridge was led by corporate practice area leader Bob Zinn, and included corporate partner Oded Green, technology and health care transactions partner Susan Altman, and corporate associate Yijun Han.
“Abridge is a perfect example of why Pittsburgh is an exciting place for innovative companies, and we have been fortunate to represent the company since inception” said Zinn. “Assembling leading AI and health care talent from local world-class academic and medical institutions, among others, Abridge represents the marriage of technology and healthcare that characterizes core strengths of our community.”
