Jamie L. Jackson

Jamie Jackson is admitted to practice in Maryland. She is not currently admitted in the District of Columbia. She is supervised by a member of the D.C. Bar.

Jamie Jackson is a partner in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office. She is a member of the Public Policy and Law practice group and focuses her practice on national security, emerging technologies, and congressional investigations matters.

Jamie is well-versed in federal legislative and regulatory processes having previously held senior positions in both the legislative and executive branches of government. Most recently, she served as Senior Counsel to former U.S. House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer.

Jamie previously served as Deputy General Counsel and Staff Lead for Oversight and Investigations for the House Armed Services Committee (HASC). On HASC, Jamie advised committee Chairman Adam Smith on matters related to passage of the annual National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). She also crafted bipartisan legislation on cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, acquisition policy, supply chain security, the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), and military justice matters. 

Jamie has held national security-related positions in both the Obama and Biden presidential administrations. Prior to her service on HASC, Jamie was appointed by President Obama to serve as special assistant to the assistant secretary of defense for legislative affairs and, subsequently, as national security director in the White House Office of Presidential Personnel. She recently served as security clearance counsel at the Biden White House. 

Earlier in her career, Jamie served as a foreign policy legislative assistant to Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson, a former chair of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee. She also served as associate director of legislative affairs in Mayor Muriel Bowser's Office of Policy and Legislative Affairs. 

In 2018, Jamie was selected by New America as a “next generation leader” in national security and foreign policy. She is also a recipient of the Secretary of Defense Award for Outstanding Achievement.

Jamie is a member of the board of directors for the National Institute of Military Justice.
