Antoine de Rohan Chabot is counsel at the firm and is a member of the Antitrust, Competition, and Trade Regulation group. Over the past 13 years, Antoine has developed experience in a broad range of areas in European Law and French Law, with a particular emphasis on international contracts, EU and French regulatory and compliance matters.
His practice focuses on advising international companies active in a variety of industrial sectors, including transport and logistics, transport infrastructures, aviation, e-commerce cross-border issues, energy, hydrogen, health care (including pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, and medical devices), consumer goods, fashion and luxury goods, cosmetics, manufacturing, and chemicals (including REACH and CLP), on the legal aspects of their business activities, with a particular emphasis on international contracts, and EU and French regulatory compliance. Antoine has also regularly assisted clients on product compliance matters, including EU and French packaging and labeling rules, CE marking, and extended producer responsibility (EPR).
Antoine is also involved in the drafting of global antitrust compliance programs and policies, and regularly provides compliance trainings, and regularly advises clients on French merger control issues (including notifications to the French Competition Authority), the EU Foreign Subsidies regulation (FSR), the rules and procedures governing State aid, EU public procurement directives French public tenders, and contracts and concessions, as well as the rules governing grant agreements and consortium agreements in the context of the Horizon Europe research and innovation funding program.
He also advises on EU and French competition, distribution and consumer protection legislation, including unfair commercial practices, green claims, misleading and comparative advertising, and advises international companies on vertical agreements including competition, and e-commerce cross-border issues relating to distribution agreements, and regularly assists clients with the drafting of their terms and conditions of sale in Europe.
Over the past years, Antoine has regularly assisted international companies and trade associations on various EU and French ESG and sustainability matters, notably in relation to international supply chains due diligence obligations.
Antoine also has experience advising clients on multi-jurisdictional foreign direct investment (FDI) assessments in the context of mergers and acquisitions transactions, as well as on the assessment of transactions under French FDI control legislation, and has successfully conducted several phase 1 and phase 2 FDI filings in France, including additional notification requirements under the EU FDI screening mechanism.
Prior to joining the firm, Antoine was an associate at another international law firm in Brussels, where he was part of the EU Antitrust Regulatory and Compliance Group. He also previously gained experience at the Directorate General for Competition of the European Commission, the French Competition Authority and with international law firms in Brussels and Paris.
In 2014, Antoine was seconded to the French legal department of a major IT company, and in 2015, he was seconded to the legal department of one of the world's largest express transport companies to support the development of their operations throughout France.
In 2021, Antoine was seconded to the legal department of a leading cosmetics company to assist with contractual and regulatory matters related to the company’s global supply chain.
