K&L Gates offers a CPD Program for 2024 that will support Australian lawyers in gaining your mandatory points before the 31 March deadline.
The health and safety of our clients and staff are of the utmost priority. We will be conducting CPD sessions in a hybrid of live in-person events and interactive live webinars which anyone can join, ask questions and participate or watch later.
In-Person Sessions

Session 6: Respect@Work and Managing Psychosocial Safety Risk | 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM |
Managing psychosocial hazards arising from bullying, stress and sexual harassment is a key challenge facing organisations, and poses serious risk to the health and safety of workers. This session focuses on recent developments in the Australian government and employers' efforts to combat these risks, including legislative reforms arising from the Respect@Work review, such as the positive duty to “take reasonable and proportionate measures” to eliminate, as far as possible, unlawful sex discrimination, sexual harassment and victimisation at work, and the importance of developing prevention plans. The session is also designed to help attendees understand how to develop a systematic approach to the management of psychosocial risk more generally, why it matters, and the importance of coordinating efforts with other internal stakeholders. Attendees will gain a deepening in their understanding of legislative compliance frameworks to help the organisation and its officers meet their obligations. An international element to a dispute will add a layer of complexity beyond that involved in a dispute between domestic parties. This requires the parties to navigate issues ranging from applicable laws from multiple systems, to questions of jurisdiction, to the enforcement against assets in other countries. These issues can arise at all stages of the dispute (and pre-dispute), and across various modes of traditional and alternative dispute resolution processes. Managing psychosocial hazards arising from bullying, stress and sexual harassment is a key challenge facing organisations, and poses serious risk to the health and safety of workers. This session focuses on recent developments in the Australian and Western Australian governments and employers' efforts to combat these risks, including WA's Code of Practice on Psychosocial hazards in the workplace and legislative reforms arising from the National Inquiry into Respect@Work and the WA Parliamentary Inquiry into sexual harassment against women in the FIFO mining industry. The session will explore the increasing requirements for employers to take proactive steps to prevent inappropriate conduct at work, such as the positive duty to “take reasonable and proportionate measures” to eliminate, as far as possible, unlawful sex discrimination, sexual harassment and victimisation at work, and the importance of developing prevention plans. What Qualifies For a CPD Point in 2023/24?
All sessions held during the 2024 CPD Program will be held for one hour and qualify for one CPD point applicable for all Australian states and territories.
For Western Australian Practitioners: In order to receive your CPD points, please ensure you are viewing sessions from the last 12 months. If you view a pre-recorded session via our HUB CLE Centre, please email your Certificate of Attendance and Practitioner ID to cle@klgates.com for the session to be added to your Legal Practice Board CPD Management System (CPDMS) record.
How to Access Recordings
Recordings of the live webinar will be posted to our HUB CLE Centre in March.
To view the recording, click here to be directed to our online HUB CLE Centre. Log in to your HUB account (or set up a new account) and click to register for each session in order for them to qualify as CPD points.
To create a new HUB account, click here and enter your details into the mandatory fields as a "New User". When you have provided all the necessary information, click on "Create Account".
Once your account is set up, you can click the topics on this page to go to other sessions on our HUB and click "WATCH NOW". For every session you register, it will add that to your account so you can return to watch the recordings at any time.
Our HUB will keep a record of the sessions you have viewed (including the amount of time spent watching – so watch until the end).
